The DKM extender setup provides the widest range of possible combinations, which makes it easy to customize for your specific application.
The DKM Modular KVM Extenders are comprised of modular housing chassis with 2, 4, 6, or 21 slots, basic link modules and upgrade module for your peripheral needs. Special converter modules provide a video conversion for analog video input formats and DVI output or a 8-port DKM FXC switching module build into the DKM Extender housing to save even more space.
Basic link Modules
The modules featured on this page provide the cable connection to the remote end in a point-to-point extension respectively in a switched extension the connection to the DKM FC/FXC matrix switch. Each Modular DKM Extender housing must be equipped with at least one basic link module
Choose from CATx, fiber at 1 Gbps or high-speed fiber at 2.5 Gbps depending on your distance and bandwidth requirements. CATx is ideal for shorter distances up to 140 meters, the fiber modules work with both multi-mode (< 1km) and single mode (< 10km) fiber. The high-speed modules with 2.5 Gbps are ideal for demanding video applications.
Basic link modules are available with Single Link DVI-D, DVI-I with VGA input and DVI-D output, or HDMI video plus USB HID. Dual Link DVI-D modules will soon round up the portfolio offering either one dual link DVI-D channel up to 2560 x 1600 or two Single Link DVI-D channels up to 1920 x 1200.
Special feature modules increase your flexibility even more:
The DVI-D splitter module is ideal for redundant video links or applications where one source should be displayed on two different monitors.
HDMI link modules are available with local access at the transmitter for computer control or with an intergrated KVM switch at the receiver end to connect a local PC. For pure HD video distribution, choose the HDMI only modules without keyboard/mouse support.
For high bandwidth USB 2.0 extensions finally, choose the 4-Port USB 2.0 link module allowing transparent USB 2.0 transmissions with 480 Mbps.
DKM Modular Extenders Overview
DKM Modular Housings are available with desktop chassis for two, four, or six modules or use a 19” rackmount chassis with 21 modules. For mission critical applications, all housings are available with redundant power. DC-power for industrial usage can be supplied, too. Choose one housing with transmitter modules for your computer end and one housing with the corresponding receiver modules at your user station. The desktop housings can be mounted with optional kits on DIN-rails, walls, under the table as well as in 19” racks.
Basic Link Modules offer the cable connection to the remote end. Each housing must be equipped with at least one of these modules
The Upgrade Modules carry their signals over the cable connections from the basic link modules to save on infrastructure needs. They provide a large variety of peripheral interfaces like USB HID, PS/2, embedded USB 2.0 at 36 Mbps, serial RS-232 or RS-422, bidirectional analog audio and uni-, or-bidirectional digital audio. Mix and match the options according to your application needs.
The DKM Converter Modules allow the integration of analog video formats like component and composite video as well as industrial video formats like EGA, CGA, MDA. In addition, there are options for SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI available. The modules convert these signals into digital DVI-D signals being transmitted over the distance with any losses.
The new DKM FXC Switching Module provides real space savings. This module offers the full feature set of the DKM FXC CATx 8-Port Matrix Switch (ACXC08) but in a very compact design occupying only 2 Slots in your DKM extender chassis.
The DKM Extenders work as a point-to-point extension solution or can be combined with the DKM and DKM FX/FXC KVM Switches to build up a free scalable and flexible KVM switching matrix
Use our DKM configuration tool (top right of this page) to easily configure the KVM Extender according to your needs. The results are supplied in a PDF format for comfortable quote requests, ordering, and filing. If you require any assistance with your configuration, please call our Free Tech Support any time.
