The Power Switch Satellite is a power distribution and control unit that enables power management of 8 devices through an RS-232 or RS-485 serial connection. The number of controlled power outlets can be extended up to 128 by cascading up to 16 satellite models.
The Power Switch Satellite is ideal for controlling power outlets through the serial connection of a PC, a KVM switch or a console server. It can also be connected to a ServMon xB to extend the number of controlled power outlets over IP. On, off, toggle and restart functions Each power outlet can be turned On/Off, toggled or restarted through a single RS-232 or RS-485 serial connection of a PC, a KVM switch or a console server. Cascadable devices 16 satellite models allow you to control 128 power outlets through an RS-232 or RS-485 serial connection. 1 master and 16 satellite models allow you to control 136 power outlets over one IP address. Two separate AC power inputs To improve the security and increase the total current load, the Power Switch Satellite has two separate power inputs. The first one provides power for outlets 1 to 4 and the second one for outlets 5 to 8. This feature is ideal for power management of servers with redundant power supplies. Sequential power up/down Avoids the risk for a power in-rush to blow a fuse or circuit breaker in the data centre. Integrated RS-232/RS-485 converter The Power Switch Satellite can be controlled either using a serial RS-232 port or an RS-485 network. Configuration & controlling over an easy to use interface The Power Switch Satellite can be easily configured and controlled through an RS-232 or RS-485 terminal connection using a simple command language.
